Our Story

Our region here in 'Te Tairawhiti' is experiencing more and more unexpected extreme weather events, throw in an uncertain economic outlook in recent times, it has been tough! Some parts of Te Tairawhiti have found ourselves without essentials such as fresh drinking water, and access to supermarkets meaning no food!
So, the idea of 'Armageddon Shelters' was born, a service where we could provide locally made multipurpose greenhouses that will last for 'years' to come, and provide an ideal platform for independence/self-sufficiency and a backstop in case of 'Armageddon'!
Right now, we are providing our own designed and locally made greenhouses & shade houses, and looking forward, provide all the support / teaching needed to get your greenhouse & self-sufficient garden underway & start creating those valuable habits.
These shelters will be perfect for Papa Kainga, Marae, Schools & your backyard! As these will be congregation spots, and great location for opportunities to teach friends and whanau the 'how to' of growing kai and skills to be self-sustainable if suddenly, the need arises.Kia Kaha!

RYAN

Team Member

Over a decade of experience in horticulture & Horticultural development, hes a bank of knowledge.

Ryan loves getting things perfect, and has an eye for detail, and strives for efficiency in his work.

DAVID

Team Member

Our newest Team member, at only 19, David has come from a building background. David loves working outdoors in the sunshine and also being in the team environment and is keen on improving his skill set everyday.

As hes live 30mins away, Hes on a mission to save up and move closer to town!

REUBEN

Avid Gardener

An Avid gardener & horticulturalist himself, Reuben is in the perfect line of work.

With 8 years of experience in horticultural development, both learning and mentoring, hes know his way round on orchard & a back yard.

And loves working on his Nissan Skyline in his spare time.

ISABELL

Avid Gardener

Also an avid gardener, and has award winning looking gardens up the waimata valley where she lives. She has been one of our longest running employees, bringing a positive and down to earth attitude every time she is at work.

That might be cause she's a coastie, from Ruatoria!

JAYDEN

Supervisor

Our Supervisor Jayden has a background in sales, selling vacuums to be exact. But 5 years ago he packed up the suit, to dawn the work boots in horticultural development and has never looked back.

Jayden has a sharp & efficient work ethic & enjoys working in the outdoor environment.

STEPH

Admin

Our Admin, Fastest keyboard skills in town. Steph has been an invaluable member of our team, being the rock through business ups & downs. Manging bills, sending invoices, all light work for Steph.

She was the first to have an Armageddon shelter (greenhouse) and is now becoming a pro gardener!

LUKE

Director

After being torn between living in Australia and Here in gizzy, I made the great decision to set my roots here on the east coast.

I have 7 years of experience in horticultural development both in NZ and Australia.

I enjoy a bit of photography, and am keen to see what the potential is for our team & East Coast community moving forward.
